Lorne's Sawmill Services
Situated on the edge of the Prairies dictates sawmill products that are used by the cattle and bison industry.
These common products are: windbreaks of sizes 1” x 6” x 8’ (numbers one and two), 1” x 8” x 8’ and 1” x 10” x 8’. Ranch sizes of 2” x 6” x 16’, 2” x 8” x 16’, 2” x 10” x 16’ and 2” x 12” x 16’.
Dimensional lumber for the construction industry is also available upon request as well. For those on a tight budget, one inch lumber is cheaper to purchase than plywood – but slower to install than plywood.
Squares, Timbers and Decking
Any large size squares, timbers and decking up to 20” long may be produced at this site. Squares from 4” x 4” up to 12” x 12” have been produced (the largest being 16” x 16”) have been produced for a variety of purposes including log homes, dunnage, pillars, bridge timbers, etc. Decking of 3” thick material is also available for truck decks and barn floors (cheaper than concrete) with samples including 3” x 10” x 16’, 3” x 10” x 18’, and 3” x 10” x 20’. Other sizes widths ie. 8” or 6” widths and 12” widths also.
Timbers and decking have also been used in applications for bridges, barns, pole sheds, drilling and mining platforms. Patio decks (sometimes as a package) have been produced as well.

Miscellaneous products
Building strapping using 1” x 4” x various lengths is another option when installing metal or tin siding. Fence boards of 1” x 6” x 6’ are available for residential areas as privacy fences, while the accompanying 2” x 4” x 8’ is also available. Other available miscellaneous products include round cookies, dunnage, mechanic’s wood blocks, dice squares and skins for a wakeboard.
Seasoned firewood (first cuts) are available for sale with most bundles being around 2 cords in size and they are hand piled and strapped. Some firewood is also available as stovelengths. Delivered wood is stacked in the truck allowing for a higher volume of wood to be delivered.
Services
Custom sawing is available upon request, with the customer supplying their own logs. Odd sizes and uncommon thickness and widths (ie. 1.25’ thick or 7” wide) are available upon request – most products that aren’t readily available by your building supplier as well as products that are available by your building supplier. Forestry consulting services and sawmill training are other features that have been undertaken by Lorne’s Sawmill.
